Research Interests
My research is in topology and geometry. I am interested in low-dimensional
topology, and particularly interested in gauge theoretic invariants of
3-dimensional manifolds. Some of my recent research publications
have been joint with Hans Boden
and Paul Kirk.
For more details about my research interests and
publications, click
here.
I am also interested in working on
interdisciplinary projects with faculty in other departments.
I am currently doing some work with R.A. Wirtz in Mechanical Engineering.
Teaching
In Fall 2005, I am teaching Math 442/642 Differential Geometry. Click
here for details on
this course. Sample
Maple worksheets are available for use with this class.
I will also be teaching Math 420/620 Mathematical Modeling.
This is a capstone
class, consisting of a number of projects devoted to modeling real world phenomena.
2004 Position in Geometry/Topology
My department recently
hired another topologist, Stanislav Jabuka, who has recently
been a Post Doc at Columbia University.
Music
I play dobro guitar with Saddle Rash and the Rattlesnake Mountain Boys.
