Welcome

My definition for research is “Research is Expanding the Current Knowledge”. My academic preference is to connect research with teaching to pass on the expanded knowledge. My main areas of expertise are large scale experimental testing, numerical modeling, and seismic assessment of infrastructure. In addition, I am familiar with using advanced technology in audio and video recording as part of innovative instrumentation and monitoring techniques.

My current research is a collaborative work with the University of Washington that was funded through National Science Foundation. The project objective is to provide a resilient bridge system design that withstand strong earthquake excitations and can be built faster as part of the new Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) paradigm

By end of Testing of the new ABC Bridge with pretensioned, Rocking columns, from left to right Prof. David H. Sanders (UNR), Travis Thonstad (UW), Islam M. Mantawy (UNR), and Prof. John F. Stanton (UW)
