Author Leonard Klosinski from Santa Clara University served as Northern California Section Secretary-Treasurer from 1979 until 2000 when he became section chair and then subsequently program chair. He was also prominent in the section when he won its teaching award in 1999 and then went on to win the national MAA Deborah and Franklin Tepper Haimo Award for Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics. There is certainly no one more eminently qualified than Leonard to give this account and he has done so in a wonderful way which is both factually accurate and complete as well as being a true delight to read.
