Spatial processing and spatial memory have ramifications on territoriality, mate choice, navigation, food acquisition, and many other ecologically-relevant behaviors. Further, differential demands on spatial processing have been shown to affect brain structures differently. Much of my research focuses on the evolution of spatial processing and the hippocampus, an area of the brain heavily involved in spatially-based behaviors.
