The Caltech Israeli Dancers meet most Saturday or Sunday nights from 7:30-10:30 in Winnett Student Center, on the Caltech campus in Pasadena.
The Caltech Israeli Dancers teach dances at the beginning and intermediate levels from 7:30 to 8:30 each Saturday or Sunday, so no prior experience is needed. From 8:30 to 10:30 the group plays requests from the dancers for songs ranging from the Yemenite Arab to the European Hasidic traditions. Almost all of these songs and dances have been created in Israel during the last few years.
In June 1996 many current and former Dancers attended the 23rd annual Israeli Folk Dance Institute at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, to sharpen their skills.
In November 1995 the Dancers held their Silver Anniversary celebration. Read an article from the Los Angeles Times describing the fun!
The Winnett Student Center is located near the intersection of San Pascual and Catalina Streets on the Caltech campus. Evening parking is available on the street and in staff parking lots. For more information and maps see the Caltech WWW site.
Check Caltech's master calendar for this weekend to confirm the dance's location. Also, you can call Rick Cofield at (818) 354-2501 (email: rick@mlsrac.jpl.nasa.gov) for more information.
