Evaluation of lecturing
performance
- For all lectures: knows subject well, but things
could have been made more interesting
- Very enthusiastic about topics
- Great, very dynamic
- There are a variety of professors (with a
variety of styles) who are guest lecturers. However, Dr. Kemmelmeier’s lecturing performance is excellent—I
have greatly enjoyed listening to and participating in his lectures.
- Lecturing performance was excellent
Evaluation of reading
materials
- Although the materials were a little dry at
times, they were very informative and easily read. The amount of reading
each week was very stable and predictable, that was good.
- ???? sometimes overwhelming and not specific of
session’s contents
- relevant to topics
- Some interesting, some very abstract
- Often too much reading that doesn’t really help
me learn the material – just pages and pages of unhelpful babble. I prefer
concise, structured articles.
Level of teaching
sophistication
- Overall, no problems with communication of
topic. I just wish the presentations could have been more interesting—this
is a long class to sit through.
- Teaches on sophisticated level, however sometimes
expects a little too much from students in their first year of graduate
school
- Interesting style – enough class discussion and
“real world” examples and applications
- Dr. Kemmelmeier -- excellent
- The level of teaching sophistication was good.
Each lecture typically built on (+ not so much repetitive of) the readings
that we had each week. We also had lots of discussion
Rapport with students
- I felt the instructor had excellent rapport with
the students. We felt comfortable expressing our concerns, like, dislikes,
etc. with him
- Dr. K. -- excellent
- Great communication via email. Professor always
available and willing to help students
- Generally good
- Decent, but needs to be a little more
open-minded about conflicting opinions + topics he is not so knowledgeable
in
- Had rapport with class,but
I found some instructors extremely irritating, and I had some conflicts
Overall evaluation of
instructor
- Good (2)
- excellent – he explained the requirements
thoroughly, was available outside of class for help, and give interesting
lectures
- excellent, seems to have a passion for what he
does
- Dr. K -- excellent
Overall evaluation of class
- Dr. Kemmelmeier is a very enthusiastic and
motivating professor
- Really enjoyed the class. Some instructors/guest
speakers were excellent, some were more
“traditional lecturer” type. Overall, good class.
- Mostly good, but varied by instructor à this statement could apply to all categories
- Good
- I felt this was an excellent intro course. We
learned about a wide variety of topics and received lots of feedback/help
on our assignments.
- Overall, class was OK—thank god there’ no
in-class exams
