Raja S. Chellappa, Ph.D.

Home

I am a Post Doctoral Fellow in the Materials Science & Engineering Division at the University of Nevada, Reno.

A major portion of my current research is devoted to understanding the high pressure behavior of complex light metal hydrides. This involves proof-of-principle experiments to stabilize high pressure dense phases to ambient pressure to improve gravimetric and volumetric hydrogen storage capacities of these complex hydrides.

We are an academic partner (PI: Prof. Dhanesh Chandra) in Carnegie/DOE Alliance Center (CDAC) for conducting high pressure research.

I have also performed phase diagram calculations as well as experimental studies on organic “plastic crystal” thermal energy storage materials.

Further details about the methods that I use can be found in the Research section.
