Textbook: Dr. Theodore Lambert III, Basic College Mathematics, 2005. The schedule of the lectures is available here.
Calculator: Scientific or graphing calculator; knowledge of operating calculator
(You can rent a TI-83 from the math department for $20 a semester)

GRADING
Your course grade will be determined by the following:
25% Homework
55% Exams
20% Comprehensive Final Exam
The grading scale will be as follows:
A: 90 - 100%
B: 80 - 89%
C: 70 - 79%
D: 60 - 69%
F: 0 - 59%
+/- grading may be used in borderline cases at the instructor’s discretion.
Cheating will not be tolerated. Any student caught attempting to cheat, cheating, or helping another student cheat will receive a grade of F for the course.
The 2005 catalog contains the following statement: Credit may not be received for Math 120 if credit has already been awarded for Math 128 or above. If this rule is violated, your DARS will list this course with zero credit. It will not count toward graduation and the grade will not be averaged into your GPA.
HOMEWORK
Credit for homework will be based on the work shown. Homework will be collected at the beginning of class. Homework that is not stapled or that has scraggly edges will automatically receive a zero. NO LATE HOMEWORK WILL BE ACCEPTED—NO EXCEPTIONS. Some homework scores may be replaced by quizzes. The homework assignment can be found here.
EXAMS
There will be 3 regular exams (please see attached schedule) and a COMPREHENSIVE final exam on Thursday, May 7, 9:45 -11:45 am. Calculators and a formula sheet will be allowed on all tests. Any student participating in official school activities that will interfere with tests must make arrangements with me two weeks prior to the test that will be missed. Any student requiring accommodations through the DRC must schedule their exams on the same day as the in class exam. NO CREDIT WILL BE GIVEN FOR EXAMS TAKEN LATE.

ATTENDANCE
Please note that the following schedule is just a guide. Although every effort will be maintained to follow the schedule, you may find that we get a day ahead or behind. If you miss class, it is your responsibility to find out what was covered. Attendance will not be kept.
DROP DEADLINE
The last day to drop the class and receive 100% of your money back is January 29. The last day to drop the class and receive 50% of your money back is February 27. The final drop date is March 13 (with no money back).
