Stephen L. Rock, Ph.D.

 

 

Stephen L. Rock is a professor in the Department of Educational Specialties in the College of Education at the University of Nevada, Reno and has been at UNR since 1990.  Dr. Rock specializes in special education, educational research, and program evaluation.  He is a member of the special education program faculty and advises graduate students in special education.  This page contains a brief professional biography, contact information, a partial vita, course information, and links for special education policy and research/evaluation.

 

Dr. Rock received his doctoral degree from the University of Illinois.  During his time at UNR, he has served as the Director of the Research and Educational Planning Center, Director of the Nevada University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, Acting Dean of the College of Education, and Chair of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.  In addition, he has been involved in conducting or supervising a wide variety of externally funded projects from federal, state and private sources.  Before coming to UNR, Dr. Rock was a researcher and teacher educator in special education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Illinois State University.  Dr. Rock also taught special education and worked in residential treatment centers for children with behavior disorders in Arizona and Utah.
