Dr. Bob's Rx for FUN!!!

Fun... one of the best kept secrets of success !!!

Having fun makes one more successful and more relaxed whether it be at home or at work and in one's relationships as well!!

Silly things people think about fun :

All the parts of self...

Freud had some pretty good ideas!!! His aphorism of work, play and love as the yardsticks for evaluating a person's emotional health is standard teaching in the helping professions, and widely used despite all the fancy "objective" tests used nowadays. His conflict laden metaphor of the mind as a war zone between special interest groups (the superego, the ego and the id) which are constantly lobbying against each other also suggests that there is intrapsychic cooperation, peaceful negotiation, and most importantly, respect and value for all the parts of self! Think of the parental superego as your inner parent, the ego as your inner adult and the id as the inner child. Don't let that inner parent spoil all your fun!! Let the child within come out and play!!!

How to plan to be spontaneous!?!

One cannot really plan spontaneity, but I do enjoy silly paradoxes! However, one can make time and plan times to play and have fun. Amusement, enjoyment , pleasure, play and other forms of fun heal the body and the mind. This has to do with beta endorphins produced by the brain during activities that are pleasant. Make a point to bring fun into everything you do... let it permeate your feelings, your activities, your attitudes...this may take some practice, so have fun working at it and poke fun at yourself when you find yourself being oh so serious and intense about things! Love is healing partly because it is so much fun! Start by giving love and before you know it you will be receiving love also!
