Dr. Calabro's extensive experience in the administration of higher education institutions allows his students insight into the practical and political world of higher education.  Prior to his position as Regent's Professor in Educational Leadership and Asst. Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs for the University and Community College System of Nevada, Dr. Calabro served as President of Western Nevada Community College for 12 years, Vice President of Truckee Meadows Community College, and Asst. to the President at WNCC.   Dr. Calabro experienced the historical and political development of the community college system in Nevada through his work as Asst. to the President for the Community College Division of Nevada which is now represented individually by the four separate community colleges.  Prior to his roles in Nevada's higher education system, Dr. Calabro worked in secondary education as a high school teacher and counselor in Colorado.

Dr. Calabro received his B.A. from the University of Colorado, his M.A. in Psychology, Counseling, and Guidance, and Ed.D. in Administration and Vocational Education from the University of Northern Colorado.  A Nevadan for 25-years, his commitment to the northern Nevada community and higher education in general is demonstrated through involvement with organizations including:
