February 2009 - Mark Walton joins the group to do undergraduate research

January 2009 - Dr. B becomes chair of the Sierra Nevada Section of the American Chemical Society

June 2008 - Dr. Dan de Lill joins the group as postdoctoral researcher

May 2008 - Lauren Zion and Steven Hugdal, two undergraduates, join the group

October 1-5, 2007 - Dan de Lill from Prof. Christopher Cahill's group at George Washington University visits the group to make some more solid state emission measurements.

September 2007 - Brandi, Patrick and Rose officially join the group as graduate students.

July 2007 - Dr. B is an invited speaker at the Inorganic Chemistry Gordon Research Conference.

June 2007 - Dalton Trans. Top Ten article - our Dalton Trans. 2007, 2229 paper on "Lanthanide-based emitting materials in light-emitting diodes" was among the top ten most accessed for the month of June. - view Top Ten

June 2007 - The group moves to the University of Nevada, Reno.

May 13, 2007 - Commencement weekend. Both Brandi and Subha participate in the Commencement exercises. Subha receives a prize for outstanding doctoral thesis.

March 19, 2007 - PhD thesis defense of Subha Viswanathan
Subha has successfully defended her thesis and is now Dr. Subha Viswanathan. She is still working in the lab finishing off some projects, and will be joining the research group of Prof. Dean Sherry at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX, in May 2007 as postdoctoral researcher.

December 8, 2006 - ScienceDirect Top 25 Article
"2-Chloro-5-nitrobenzoato complexes of Eu(III) and Tb(III) - A 1D coordination polymer and enhanced solution luminescence," a paper by Professor Ana de Bettencourt-Dias and Subha Viswanathan, is a ScienceDirect Top 25 Hottest Article for the April to June 2006 time period. The article was published in Inorganic Chemistry Communications in May 2006.  - view Top 25

Professor Ana de Bettencourt-Dias and her group's recently published paper, "Nitro-functionalization and luminescence quantum yield of Eu(III) and Tb(III) benzoic acid complexes," is among the top ten most accessed from Dalton Transactions online this month.  - view Top Ten

September 13, 2006 - Improved Glow For Luminescent Lanthanides
Assistant professor Ana de Bettencourt-Dias and her group's efforts for developing highly luminescent lanthanide complexes that can be processed into thin films for a variety of optoelectronic applications has been featured in Chemical & Engineering News: ACS Meeting News. Prof. de Bettencourt-Dias spoke of her group's efforts during a symposium sponsored by the Division of Inorganic Chemistry (INOR) at the American Chemical Society 232nd National Meeting in San Francisco.  - read C&EN article
