I am from (Turkia, Turcia, a.k.a. Turkey in English).
Check this
article to have an idea why turkey might have been called Turkey or maybe vice versa (?).

For those of you who are curious about the meaning of my names: Can means life, soul...etc in Turkish.  means You are life . Can has almost the same meaning in Persian but my Persian friends write it in English as Jan. Cansin is pronounced as the way Johnson or Jansen is pronounced, since in Turkish C is pronounced as J or G.

My middle name Yaman means aggressive or brave. Both as are pronounced as the one in car.

About my last name,  (Evrenosoglu): It is pronounced the way Avrenosoolo is pronounced. There is a brief article here that I contributed about my family history which you may find in Wikipedia. By the way; X-oglu suffix in Turkish means the son of X. Thus my last name means the son of Evrenos.

My favorite activities are running & hiking outside, climbing (rock & mountain), short/long road trips by motorcycle or by car, exploring new cities, listening to (jazz, blues, old bluegrass, old country, classical, rock) and playing music (tenor sax), cycling, reading.

I hate TV and I am a radio guy...I frequently listen to Pandora and Radio Swiss Jazz. I like KJAZZ from Long Beach, CA and I of course listen to KUNR pretty often. A close friend of mine has a nice radio program at student radio of TAMU: KANM. The name of the program is Vertigo, it starts @ 10.00 pm (Central time) on Sundays and he plays big band and alternative/progressive jazz with a flavor of interesting electronic music; you should check it out (not in summer).

I spent too much time on this website when I was @ TAMU and I loved it ;). Procrastination is free!
