Most glassware, such as beakers and Erlenmeyer flasks, have nice flat bottoms which means that when you set them down on the benchtop, they generally stay put. Not so with round bottom flasks, which tend to roll around if not braced or secured somehow. But this item is specifically designed for solving that problem: cork rings are used to support round-bottomed glassware. For this reason, they are sometimes referred to as "flask supports" or "flask stands".
