Beakers are general-purpose pieces of glassware. A beaker may be used to heat solvents or solutions, as a collection flask, as a crystallization flask, as a reaction flask, simply to hold a quantity of solvent or solution or layers of an extraction, or as a hot water or ice bath. Beakers come in a great variety of sizes.
