You may remember this piece of glassware from your General Chemistry lab, in which you probably used it to carry out a dozen or so titrations. The long, graduated column fitted with a teflon stopcock at the bottom is efficient for exactly that: to deliver with accuracy a known volume of liquid to a compound or reaction.
In organic chemistry lab, titrations are not that common. However, burets can be used to dispense a nasty reagent, and are useful in cases where increased accuracy is a requirement.
