Erlenmeyer flasks, like beakers, are general-purpose pieces of glassware in the organic chemistry labs. An Erlenmeyer may be used to heat solvents or solutions, as a collection flask, as a crystallization flask, as a reaction flask, or simply to hold a quantity of solvent or solution or layers of an extraction. The characteristic sloping sides of Erlenmeyer flasks make them the best choice for a crystallization flask.
