Labratory of Ecological Biogeography

Welcome to the Laboratory for Conservation Biogeography at the University of Nevada, Reno.

We ask basic and applied questions related to environmental change, biodiversity, ecoclimatology, and conservation using observational, statistical, biogeographic, and landscape ecological approaches. Our interests,  like the spatial scales at which we work, are broad. Recent work includes examining the response of avian communities to extreme weather, identifying factors associated with the spread of invasive plants, and developing remote monitoring systems. We also participate in the NSF-supported Nevada Infrastructure for Climate Change Science, Education, and Outreach.

This is a great time to be involved with conservation biogeography.  Unprecedented access to spatial data, remote sensing, and computational power, as well as methodological and theoretical advances have sparked an extremely active community of researchers, practitioners, and teachers.  Add to this global scale experiments in climate change, land cover transformation, and biological invasion and we have much to learn.

We hope you will enjoy exploring our web page and would welcome questions and comments.
