Dr. Patricia K. Miltenberger is a professor of Higher Education Administration in the Educational Leadership department at the College of Education, University of Nevada, Reno. Pat served ten years as the Vice-president for Student Services at the university prior to joining the educational leadership department.

Pat grew up in Fallon, Nevada and received her bachelor’s degree in experimental psychology from the University of Nevada.
She completed her master’s degree in counseling from the University of Oregon in Eugene, and returned to Nevada to complete her doctorate in Higher Education Administration at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Pat began her career as a counselor and later became the director of the Upward Bound program at the University of Nevada, Reno.
She was one of the early faculty and first dean of students at Western Nevada Community College in Carson City
Pat then became the dean of students and the vice-president of Truckee Meadows Community College located in Reno, Nevada.
Pat also served two years as the vice-president for academic affairs at Santa Rosa Junior College in Santa Rosa, California.

With experience at both the community college and university level, and in both academic affairs and student services, Pat teaches courses from a reflective practitioner point of view. She teaches finance and facilities, a seminar in higher education administration, a seminar in community college administration, administration of student services, the community college curriculum, administration of special programs, a first year experience course for transfer students, and a senior capstone course in issues in education. She conducts workshops and gives speeches on self-esteem, small wins, stress management, women in administration, and leadership.

Pat has served on a variety of local and state community service boards and commissions, as well as participated in over 30 accreditation teams for the Northwest and Western Associations of Schools and Colleges.

As long time Nevadans, Pat and her husband are joggers, avid Sierra Nevada hikers, bikers and desert rats.
